Discover how elephants share Corbett’s grasslands and forest edges, and how visitors can give these powerful animals space. The Big Mama Eco Resort is at Shivlalpur Joshi, Bail Pokhra, Ramnagar, Uttarakhand 263140.
A landscape used by many species
Elephants move through a varied mosaic of forest, open grassland, and riverine habitat. Their movements are not scheduled for visitors. A photograph can show one moment, but it cannot tell you the full story of a herd or the landscape around it.
Watch calmly from a safe distance
If elephants appear, stay seated and follow the naturalist’s instructions. Never approach on foot, call, feed, surround, or pressure them for a closer photograph. A respectful pause often reveals more: family spacing, feeding, dust bathing, and the way the group moves together.
Keep the forest first
Wildlife routes and vehicle behaviour are governed by the reserve. Confirm current visitor rules on the official Corbett site, and remember that the animals have priority over every photograph.
